What we do

Our aim is to provide quality tree care that offers the best long-term solution and is not just a quick fix, at a competitive price, with a prompt, reliable and efficient service.

Dead Wooding
The removal of dead wood, either for aesthetic reasons or on the grounds of safety. This reduces the risk of wood falling and causing damage to persons or property.
Crown Cleaning
Similar to dead wooding, but with the addition of removing any poor health or crossing and rubbing branches. This will reduce the chance of any possible tree damage or decay in the future.
Crown Reduction
An area where the arborist’s skill and artistic flair comes into its own. Usually undertaken on trees that have outgrown their position, where the owner does not wish to remove the tree.
Crown Thinning
Prevents the sail effect on the canopy by removing branches within it. This may also allow more light through the canopy.
Crown Lifting
Removes the lower branches of the canopy to allow unrestricted access under the tree, for vehicles or people on foot. Also used to raise branches off adjacent properties.
Formative Pruning
Pruning of young trees to prevent structural abnormalities developing in the future, and to encourage better growth characteristics.
Sectional Felling
The dismantling of trees in confined spaces, or trees with obstacles underneath which can’t be moved (glass houses, garages and so on), using ropes and rigging techniques.
Straight Felling
Where space allows, the tree can be felled in one and then tidied up.
TPO or Conservation Area applications
For trees that have a TPO or are within a Conservation Area, we will complete the planning process from start to finish, on your behalf.
Hedge Work
We undertake all aspects of hedge work, from a yearly trim to reducing and reshaping an overgrown hedge.
Wood Chipper & Operator Hire
If you’ve been busy in your garden and made a pile of cuttings or branches that’s just too much to take to your local recycling centre, we can come and chip all of this green waste for you, either to keep and spread round your garden again, or we’ll take it away to be recycled.

Up on the platform, down on the ropes

Work completed on any size tree. Where a tree is too close to a house, a road or a power line to come down in one, we take it down in sections using ropes and rigging techniques, or work from a MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platform).

Over the roof of a nursing home

Removal of large limbs using rigging techniques which were growing over the roof of a nursing home.

We work to stringent Health & Safety rules, as our industry is widely regarded as one of the most dangerous, and we have full public liability cover to £5 million.

If your tree is protected, we handle the paperwork too

For trees that either have a Tree Preservation Order or are within a Conservation Area, we will complete the planning process from start to finish, on your behalf.

From the job book

A few of the jobs we’ve done over the years, for homeowners, builders and our parish council.

  • The original enquiry was for the removal of this macrocarpa, but after a little chat with the clients they decided to remove the dead wood from the stems to retain the tree.
  • Crown cleaning and crown lifting on these macrocarpa enhances the view of this house and makes the trees look so much nicer.
  • A crown reduction completed on this sweet chestnut, as this tree was the centre piece of the client’s driveway.
  • A reduction on this large ash tree removed limbs over this newly built house, as well as rebalancing the tree.
  • The removal of several very long and heavy limbs, as the client was worried about them breaking off and squashing his flower bed and bushes below.
  • This leylandii hedge was removed for our parish council, as they are building a BMX track for the local youngsters. Selected trunks were left, as they will be made into the fence.

What customers say

5.0 from 7 Google reviews

We needed some extensive work to be carried out on several large trees in our garden and had been let down by another firm of local tree surgeons (no names no pack drill...) I found Arborcare from a Google search and contacted Peter Whitehead to come round and give us an estimate. He was very helpful and communicative and offered relevant advice regarding the work that needed to be done. On the day Pete and his team arrived on time and carried out the work efficiently and exactly as agreed per the estimate. We were extremely impressed by their professionalism and attention to detail and, above all, the quality of their work and positive and friendly attitude shown to us as customers. They were very well equipped and obviously put a high degree of importance on safety and safe working practices.

So the bottom line is we highly recommend Arborcare Tree Services Cornwall to anyone looking for a professional firm of tree surgeons.

Pete and team removed a large Leylandii for us which had grown too large for the garden.

They did a fantastic job and were very professional throughout. We don’t hesitate to recommend them to friends and family.
